After the food is rescued from the Joburg Fresh Produce Market, it is brought to our “sharehouse” by our volunteer drivers and food rescuers. At the sharehouse our volunteers will sort the produce and then it is ready for collection.
Most of our kitchens will collect once a week from the sharehouse. They take the produce back to their kitchens and then prepare nutritious meals for their beneficiary organisations.
Some of our kitchens rely 100% on Chefs with Compassion produce to feed their communities. Others have access to other funding and other donations to assist them.
All that we require to become a Chefs with Compassion kitchen is your own transport to collect from our sharehouse, access to cooking a cooking facility and the desire to feed those most in need. Contact us if you would like to join our team of committed kitchens.
